Our story
A shelter, and it means it.
We opened at the end of 2018 in a building older than most countries. High Street in Old Aberdeen is a strange, wonderful place to run a cafe. In term time the queue is half undergraduates and half people who have been coming here since the first winter. In August it is tourists photographing the cobbles.
The börek is the part people come back for. It is made here, by hand, from six in the morning, and it is usually gone by two. The rest is simple: we buy from roasters we can phone, change the filter every week, put a pot of soup on at half eleven, and let people sit for three hours over one americano, because that is what a shelter is for.
